Image Compressor
Compress images, switch format and see the real saving for every file.
Tool
This tool re-encodes your images to make the files smaller. You can choose WebP, JPEG or PNG output, and AVIF as well if your browser can produce it. Quality is set with a slider and the longest edge with an optional limit; the aspect ratio is kept and an image is never enlarged. Up to 30 files are handled at once, each up to 25 MB.
Every row shows the original and new size, the measured saving as a percentage, and the pixel dimensions. These are not estimates; they are what actually came out for that file. The sliding comparison lets you check before and after by eye. Lower quality gives a smaller file but less detail, so look closely at faces and text and pick the lowest value your eye accepts.
There are limits worth knowing. Re-encoding removes location and camera data (EXIF) from the image. For animated GIFs only the first frame is processed. PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not affect it. If you turn a transparent image into a JPEG, the transparent area is filled with the colour you choose. When a result comes out larger than the original, the tool says so and suggests keeping the original.
FAQ
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Files are processed only in your browser and are never sent to a server or stored. Nothing is left behind when you close the page.
Which format should I pick?
For photographs WebP or JPEG is usually enough. For sharp-edged graphics, screenshots and transparency, PNG or WebP suits better. The AVIF option appears only when your browser can produce it.
Does compressing lower the image quality?
WebP, JPEG and AVIF are lossy, so detail drops as you lower the quality. Use the sliding comparison to find the lowest value your eye does not notice. PNG output keeps the pixel data intact.
What happens to the location data in my photo?
Location and camera data (EXIF) is removed during re-encoding. That is a useful side effect for sharing, but keep the original file if you want to hold on to that information.
