Tool

This tool calculates the engagement rate of your social media posts. For each post you enter likes, comments, saves, shares, reach, impressions and, for video, views; you enter the account's follower count once. The results follow whatever data you provide: engagement rate by followers, by reach and by impressions, plus a view rate. You can add up to 30 posts and paste a table or CSV.

Engagement here means likes, comments, saves and shares added together; the rate is that total divided by followers, reach or impressions, shown as a percentage. The formula is written under every result. The tool shows the mean and median across all posts, and the highest and lowest post. It gives no threshold for a good rate; the fairest comparison is your own account's past average.

The result may differ from the rate in a platform's own dashboard, because platforms can define engagement differently. The tool uses only the numbers you enter, so you need to copy them from the dashboard yourself. With few posts, one post can move the mean a lot, so look at the median too. Measuring ad success or sales needs a separate analysis.

FAQ

How is engagement rate calculated?

Add likes, comments, saves and shares, divide the total by followers, reach or impressions, and multiply by one hundred. The tool shows all three versions, as far as you have entered the data.

What is a good engagement rate?

We do not give a single figure, because accounts, industries and content types differ widely. A fairer approach is to compare against your own account's average over past posts.

Are my numbers sent anywhere?

No. All calculation happens in your browser; the numbers are not sent or stored. They disappear when you close the page.

Can I calculate if some data is missing?

Yes. If you leave out reach, for example, you still get the rate by followers and the reach-based row stays empty. A field that cannot be calculated shows a plain dash.
