Schema is a code format that tells search engines exactly what the information on a page means, for instance whether a phone number belongs to a business or whether a block of text is a question and answer pair rather than plain prose. This tool asks for the fields each of seven common types needs and produces JSON-LD you can paste straight into the page head.

Organization and LocalBusiness describe a brand's identity and a business's address, FAQPage can make frequently asked questions appear as an expandable box in search results, Article and Product carry content and product details, BreadcrumbList shows where a page sits within a site, and Service describes what's on offer. The output is always valid JSON, and Google's Rich Results Test can check it afterwards.

The most common mistake is adding information to the schema that doesn't actually appear on the page, such as a price or rating nobody can see; that breaks Google's guidelines and risks a manual action. A close second is putting two conflicting types of schema on the same page, which leaves it unclear which one search engines should trust.

How to use it

  1. Choose a schema type (Organization, LocalBusiness, FAQPage, Article, Product, BreadcrumbList, Service).
  2. Fill in the requested fields, entering only what's actually on the page.
  3. Copy the generated JSON-LD code.
  4. Paste it into the page head inside a script tag.
  5. Check it with Google's Rich Results Test.

FAQ

Does adding schema guarantee better rankings?

No, schema isn't a ranking factor. It helps Google understand the page correctly and, for some types, can unlock a rich result.

Which type should I use when?

FAQPage when there's a genuine question and answer section, Product on a product page, Article for news or blog posts, LocalBusiness for a business with a physical address.

Can I add information that isn't on the page?

No. Google treats that as a violation of its structured data guidelines and can remove rich results for pages that do it.

Is the information I enter sent to a server?

No. The JSON-LD is generated entirely in your browser; nothing you enter is stored anywhere.
