Is the Site Down?
Check whether a site is really down, with its HTTP code and response time, without signing up.
Tool
This tool sends a single GET request to the address you enter, from our server, and answers the question: is the site really down, or is the problem on my side. You get a large status line saying the site is working, responding with an error, or unreachable. Below it you see the HTTP status code and its meaning, the response time in milliseconds, the final address after redirects, whether the connection uses HTTPS, the Server value the site reports and the time of the check.
A 2xx code means the page came back without trouble. A 3xx code is a redirect; the tool follows at most five steps and tells you separately about loops or too many redirects. A 404 or 410 means the address was not found, while a 5xx means an error on the server side. DNS failure, refused connection, timeout and certificate error each come with their own message, so you can tell whether the fault lies in the address record, the server or the security certificate.
The measurement is one request from one location; it is not continuous monitoring. If the site will not open for you but looks fine here, the cause is most likely your network, your DNS settings or your browser. With 401, 403 and 429 the server may be answering but refusing automated requests, so the site could still open normally for you. For a definite diagnosis, contact your hosting provider or technical team.
FAQ
The site will not open for me but shows as working here. Why?
In that case the problem is usually on your side: your connection, a cached DNS record, a browser extension or a network restriction. Trying another network or device will make the difference clear.
If I see 403 or 429, is the site down?
No. The server may be responding but refusing automated requests. If the site opens normally in your browser, there is usually no fault.
Is the address I enter stored?
The address is queried once from our server and is not stored permanently. If the same address is asked again within a minute, the same result is returned.
Does this tool monitor the site continuously?
No. It is a single request from one location at one moment. If you want downtime alerts, you need a separate monitoring service.
